Website Insecure?

    When logging onto the website today on a tablet I got a message indicating the website is insecure. Haven’t seen this before. Any thoughts on this?

    I have seen this multiple times on this site.
    I'm not sure that it means very much.

    It's probably been comparing the size of its membership with other boards again...

    Joking aside, haven't we had this before? Something to do with new browsers flagging 'http' addresses as unsafe as 'https' is the new norm?

    I get this when logging in from my laptop, but not from my tablet; been so for months - don't think it's anything to worry about.

    Dunno if this is the same thing we're talking about, but just today I've occasionally got this message when I've tried to Like a post:

    Doing as it suggests allows me to Like the post, but then on another thread it will happen again.

    Is anyone else getting this?

    EDIT: I just got it when clicking on the Alerts button too.

    Hmmm. Usually, I get the errors if I post very quickly after the previous one. Leaving it for a bit makes it time out.
    Dunno what could be causing a security error, though.

    Not had that, but I do occasionally get the site asking me if I am sure I want to like a post. Everyone's a critic.

    I believe it has to do with the authentication of the website in terms of our logins. I think that FTMB is still ultimately tied to HTTP as an address, whereas there is a higher kind of login protocol called HTTPS that is a tougher encryption. While the pay part of FT website is on HTTPS (for subscriptions and the like), I think the forum is not. Thus, when we have a browser like Firefox that wants any sites we login to have the HTTPS more secure login and it isn't there, the browser tries to tell us that the login is easier to compromise and the login details of our login can be more easily stolen by a third party.

    At least that is my understanding. I'm not a computer expert, and I don't play one on tv...
