I'm hoping he hit every outcrop and thorn bush on the way down and landed on an ants' nest, breaking all his limbs, and took at least 3 days to die.

This is exactly how it happened! I heard it from the lion* who was shagging him throughout those days, lazily, the way they do. Nothing sexual about it - just showing who's boss, as those pesky naturalists always point out, for some reason. :D

*Disney have snapped him up! The kiddies will love this sequel!

    Source.

So, it's the Court of Session, Scotland's supreme civil court, that came up with the above ruling.

    And now...

...which wouldn't exist if they got what it was they were camping out for.

(I'm not making any judgement about the campaigners beliefs - but you have to admit that there's a fairly hefty lump of irony contained within, whatever your politics.)

That's actually not an uncommon problem: the pipe and structural work involved in fitting the drain support the area independently of the rest of the road surface - so when the road settles, the manhole stays where it is.

(I only point that out because I can imagine the image being used as an example of bad workmanship - whereas it isn't necessarily so.)

With all the terrorist threats facing Germany today, it's ironic that the latest threat, involving the evacuation of a city, is down to an RAF bomb dropped in a war than ended 71 years ago:
German city evacuated after discovery of unexploded RAF bomb
Some 32,000 households in Augsburg ordered to leave while 1.8-tonne second world war-era bomb is defused
    Associated Press in Frankfurt
    Sunday 25 December 2016 13.07 GMT

Up to 54,000 people are being evacuated from the German city of Augsburg on Christmas morning after the discovery of an unexploded RAF bomb. Some 32,000 homes are in the evacuation zone, which was declared following the discovery of the huge unexploded second world war ordnanceThe evacuation is the single largest evacuation operation in Germany since the end of the war.The bomb was uncovered last week during construction work in the city’s historic central district. Police said Christmas Day was the best time to defuse it because there was less traffic and it was more likely people could stay with relatives.

Nazi doctor Josef Mengele's bones used in Brazil forensic medicine courses
Students in São Paulo are examining remains of man known for medical experiments on Jews at Auschwitz to uncover mysteries of his life on the run
    Associated Press in São Paulo
    Wednesday 11 January 2017 16.42 GMT

For more than 30 years, the bones of Josef Mengele, the German doctor who conducted horrific experiments on thousands of Jews at Auschwitz, lay unclaimed inside a blue plastic bag in São Paulo’s Legal Medical Institute.

Dr Daniel Romero Muñoz, who led the team that identified Mengele’s remains in 1985, saw an opportunity to put them to use. Several months ago, the head of the department of legal medicine at the University of São Paulo’s Medical School obtained permission to use them in his forensic medical courses. Today, his students are now learning their trade studying Mengele’s bones and connecting them to the life story of the man called the “angel of death”.

“The bones will be helpful to teach how to examine the remains of an individual and then match that information with data in documents related to the person,” Muñoz said recently, flanked by students.

Mengele died nearly four decades ago when he drowned off the coast of the state of São Paulo. He had been on the run for years, hiding while being pursued for performing experiments on inmates and sending thousands of them to the gas chambers during the second world war.

Mengele’s life on the run, and the mystery surrounding his whereabouts, are part of what make his bones a useful teaching tool, Muñoz said.
“For example, examining Mengele’s remains, we saw a fractured left pelvis,” he said, adding that “information found in his army record said that he fractured his pelvis in a motorcycle accident in Auschwitz”, the notorious Nazi death camp in Poland.
Holding Mengele’s skull, Muñoz pointed to a small hole in the left cheekbone, which he said was the result of long-term sinusitis.

    etc...

The founder of the popular right-wing blog The Right Stuff resigned over the revelation that his wife is Jewish.

Mike Enoch, who also co-hosts “The Daily Shoah” weekly podcast, was outed over the weekend as Mike Peinovich, a website developer from New York. On the podcast, which has about 100,000 regular listeners, Peinovich as Enoch talked about killing Jews and spouted neo-Nazi invective.

The release of Peinovich’s personal details came after the identities of the other podcast panelists were made public earlier in the week by a rival website called 8chan. The invented surname reportedly is a reference to Enoch Powell, a far-right British politician..

Enoch was considered one of the three most influential figures in the “alt-right” movement along with Daily Stormer creator Andrew Anglin and Richard Spencer, president of the National Policy Institute, a white supremacist think tank. Spencer is a co-creator of the alt-right label, which describes a far-right movement whose followers traffic variously in white nationalism, anti-immigration sentiment, anti-Semitism and a disdain for “political correctness.” ...
