Who's Henry and why do we like him so much?
"burrp" Scues me. I just left the Trolls Head.
Is this where we order sausage rolls?
Henry is the Vampire of Likes. The more Likes he gets, the stronger and happier he becomes.
will everyone quit it
This thread is making my day.
oh very mature
I seem to have picked up seven Likes as collateral damage in this Like-War.
Today's Guardian has an interesting piece on the addictive power of these social-media-type ego-boosts.
I'll just take a Selfie of me with that article.
thats the same article
I was just so carried-away by all the liking that I did not go back to check.
Now that I have, I have Liked DP's post all the more!
You assume too much, Henry but, I like you anyway.
All of you...
Aaahhh, Dick Emery! Used to watch his show as a child. The Mary Whitehouse lot were trying their best to shut down anything even remotely suggestive. The gender-bending/cross-dressing/sexuality-subversion aspect must've driven them mad.
That sort of thing was seen as quite sinister at the time, although of course Emery would claim to be continuing the great British panto dame tradition. Nothing sexual about THEM!
I loved The Dick Emery Show when I was very little, but how I got any of the jokes is beyond me now. I probably just thought he was a funny man being silly and that was entertainment enough.
Henry (and indeed any other like dislikers)- I have just discovered something hinted at by Yithian on another thread. You can disable alerts so people may like as many of your post as they like and you will be blissfully unaware.
Select your name at the top of the page.
Select "alert preferences" (on the left hand side of the page)
Untick as many tick boxes as you, er, like.
Relax with a cup of tea.
You might need to test this. I'm not sure whether the GROUP PERMISSIONS preset we have set behind the scenes overrule personal settings or not--and I'm not sure what our presets actually are at present.
Really? Darn. Okay, I have unticked the like alert box. Could you please like this post and I will report what happens?
It worked! I only got an alert for the post quote and not for the like.
Blimey, I thought you would be pleased that there is a solution to your "like" problem. If you prefer just to be grumpy about it, be my guest.
Separate names with a comma.
