I think this fits in here.

White supremacists create fake ‘black person’ accounts to infiltrate Black Twitter

Alt-right website The Daily Stormer announced that it had created 1,000 fake Twitter accounts for black people.

“Twitter is about to learn what happens when you mess with Republicans,” founder Andrew Anglin said after several Twitter accounts were taken down for hateful speech.

Anglin then called on readers to create more such profiles, telling them to make them “indistinguishable” from real profiles of black people.

“When you have time, create a fake black person account,” Anglin wrote. “Just go on black Twitter and see what they look like, copy that model. Start filling it with rap videos and booty-shaking or whatever else these blacks post.”

The purpose, Anglin said, was to infiltrate Black Twitter.

He doesn't really make clear to what purpose.

Maybe they all just got a bit bored of dressing in sheets and looking like massive knobends, or wanking off in the firearms section at Walmart, and this is just a cleverly disguised way of having some actual fun.

Cunning! I'm off to stealthily infiltrate the Brazilian ladies beach volleyball team annual bikini testing seminar.

    Why?

Erm....in order to stealthily infiltrate the Brazilian ladies beach volleyball team annual bikini testing seminar.

Regained control from one fringe, and lost it to another (and I don't just mean the truly odd construction which passes for the soon to be presidents hair.)

How Fake News Goes Viral: A Case Study

Eric Tucker, a 35-year-old co-founder of a marketing company in Austin, Tex., had just about 40 Twitter followers. But his recent tweet about paid protesters being bused to demonstrations against President-elect Donald J. Trump fueled a nationwide conspiracy theory — one that Mr. Trump joined in promoting.

Mr. Tucker's post was shared at least 16,000 times on Twitter and more than 350,000 times on Facebook. The problem is that Mr. Tucker got it wrong. There were no such buses packed with paid protesters.

    But that didn't matter.

While some fake news is produced purposefully by teenagers in the Balkans or entrepreneurs in the United States seeking to make money from advertising, false information can also arise from misinformed social media posts by regular people that are seized on and spread through a hyperpartisan blogosphere.

Here, The New York Times deconstructs how Mr. Tucker’s now-deleted declaration on Twitter the night after the election turned into a fake-news phenomenon. It is an example of how, in an ever-connected world where speed often takes precedence over truth, an observation by a private citizen can quickly become a talking point for a world leader, even as it is being proved false. ...

Call for a Congressional Investigation: An Open Letter from Concerned Scholars

    Dear Senators and Representatives,

We, the undersigned scholars who conduct research on cyber-security, national defense, authoritarian regimes, and free and fair elections, are deeply troubled by reports of hacking by foreign powers apparently intent on influencing our November 2016 elections. Reports are serious enough that former senior national security aide Michael Allen, as well as Senators Bob Corker and Lindsey Graham, have raised concerns that Russia in particular may have been involved.

We represent a wide range of viewpoints on most issues, but on one point we agree: our polarized political climate must not prevent our elected representatives from doing what is right. In this case, what is right is simple: our country needs a thorough, public Congressional investigation into the role that foreign powers played in the months leading up to November. As representatives of the American people, Congress is best positioned to conduct an objective investigation.

We emphasize that nothing in our collective call for an investigation is meant to question the outcome of the November election. We simply know that turning a blind eye to such involvement would send a global green light to hackers and others intent on undermining our democratic institutions.

Nor do we prejudge the outcome of an investigation. As scholars, we give priority to evidence. The evidence made available in an investigation might show that foreign powers have played an important role, and it might show that such a role was negligible ...

Not snowflakes, election lawyers and computer scientists are suggesting a recount in three States.

Activists Urge Clinton Campaign to Challenge Election Results in 3 Swing States

    By Gabriel Sherman

Hillary Clinton is being urged by a group of prominent computer scientists and election lawyers to call for a recount in three swing states won by Donald Trump, New York has learned. The group, which includes voting-rights attorney John Bonifaz and J. Alex Halderman, the director of the University of Michigan Center for Computer Security and Society, believes they’ve found persuasive evidence that results in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania may have been manipulated or hacked. The group is so far not speaking on the record about their findings and is focused on lobbying the Clinton team in private.

Last Thursday, the activists held a conference call with Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta and campaign general counsel Marc Elias to make their case, according to a source briefed on the call. The academics presented findings showing that in Wisconsin, Clinton received 7 percent fewer votes in counties that relied on electronic-voting machines compared with counties that used optical scanners and paper ballots. Based on this statistical analysis, Clinton may have been denied as many as 30,000 votes; she lost Wisconsin by 27,000. While it’s important to note the group has not found proof of hacking or manipulation, they are arguing to the campaign that the suspicious pattern merits an independent review — especially in light of the fact that the Obama White House has accused the Russian government of hacking the Democratic National Committee. ...

Wisconsin: America's top voting-machine security expert says count was irregular; Fed judge says gerrymandering was unconstitutional

...In related news, a federal judge has ruled that the Republican state government of Wisconsin undertook an unconstitutional redistricting project in 2012/14 that gerrymandered the state for the GOP, so that the Dems' 2012 popular vote of 51% only won them 39 of 99 seats, while the GOP's 51% in 2014 got them 63 of 99 seats. The Wisconsin AG has vowed to appeal to the Supreme Court, and in any event, the district court judgment does not affect the 2016 vote. ...

    Some results from Wisconsin:

    unofficial results, 1516 ballots; 1949 Pres/VP; 1369 Trump, 493 Clinton, 87 other.

    official results, 1516 ballots; 1484 Pres/VP; 904 Trump, 493 Clinton, 87 other.
    https://gis.outagamie.org/ElectionR...icial Results - Nov. 8, 2016 President-VP.pdf

Two things of interest. In the unofficial results there were roughly 30% more votes for President than there were ballots. Of the 465 votes removed when making the count official, every one was for the same candidate.

My two-cents on the suspicions of fraud and foreign interference during the US presidential campaign :

Julian Assange definitely acted to have Hillary Rodham Clinton not elected by releasing many incriminating files, but until now there is no evidence that he was helped by Russians.
It remains possible that they were involved, as they too had every motive to hamper her campaign. But presently, leads would rather point towards insiders from the Democratic Party, Assange having even named a leak who was found killed three months ago, Assange suggesting that it was as a result of hacking the files ; and towards disgruntled FBI agents, worried by the levels of skullduggery reached by Clinton's circles and their ties with islamists. It is not impossible that they worked with some Russian services, but they did not act as the 'hand of Russia', at most it would be a pragmatical cooperation based on mutual benefits.

Suspicions of electoral fraud, including computer electoral fraud, were present in almost any previous US presidential election, usually in favour of the Republican candidate (I believe that the Ohio vote in 2004 was stolen, and there was a topic on this board relating to the theft of votes in favour of Obama in 2008, despite that he won). So that the new accusations rely on an old tradition. Until now, no election has been cancelled on this basis, and it is unlikely that it will be the case this year. But if fraud there was, it would be in all likeliness the doing of local Republican officials, acting to support their candidate and not at the bequest of Russia.

Clinton's attempts to blame Russians for her every trouble were rather comical as well as pitiful, and unsuccesful by the way. But despite her failure, she appears to have gained adepts ; after Germany, the fashion of incriminating Russians for any electoral result that would not please the elites reached France – alas, ridicule does not kill :

Unfortunately you cannot believe anything you hear anymore and less than half of what you see. Heck they had an exposure on Michelle Obama proving she was actually a HE. I do not like Obama or the way he has trashed America; but neither do I believe that Michelle is actually Michael. False information from all sides is resulting in total chaos. It is becoming scary.

"Two teams of independent researchers found that the Russians exploited American-made technology platforms to attack U.S. democracy...

The researchers used internet analytics tools to trace the origins of particular tweets and mapped the connections among social-media accounts that consistently delivered synchronized messages. Identifying website codes sometimes revealed common ownership. In other cases, exact phrases or sentences were echoed by sites and social-media accounts in rapid succession, signaling membership in connected networks controlled by a single entity.
    ..........
Some of these stories originated with RT and Sputnik, state-funded Russian information services that mimic the style and tone of independent news organizations yet sometimes include false and misleading stories in their reports, the researchers say....

A former U.S. ambassador to Russia, Michael McFaul, said he was struck by the overt support that RT and Sputnik expressed for Trump during the campaign, even using the #CrookedHillary hashtag pushed by the candidate."

Nephilim Theorists Say Donald Trump Is God's Instrument, Claim Rabbis Believe He Is the Messiah

... It goes without saying that the dimmer among the Religious Right can’t quite push their minds to think beyond the outright lies that Trump himself tweets out with regularity. L. A. Marzulli, who is increasingly refashioning himself as a Trump apologist rather than a Nephilim theorist, actively embraces Trump’s lies and justifies them as a hidden truth. In a blog post yesterday, Marzulli repeated Trump’s lie that millions of votes for Hillary Clinton were cast illegally, and he repeated Trump transition officials’ allegations that the Democratic Party and Pres. Obama fabricated Russian election hacking to excuse Clinton’s Electoral College defeat: “This is the last—trust me it won’t be—in a series of ongoing media spins to de-legitimize the TRUMP landslide.” Trump, who lost the popular vote by more than 2.5 million votes, won the Electoral College, but his margin of victory is not by any measure a landslide; his electoral victory was smaller than most presidents, and his popular vote loss is the largest of any winning candidate. Only by embracing a lie—that Clinton’s votes were fraudulent—can Marzulli create the fiction of a landslide. “Trump stated that the election process was rigged and he’s right.”

But it is more disturbing that Marzulli has embraced a conspiratorial view of the election that is part and parcel of the same conspiracy that David Wilcock embraced a few days earlier. Wilcock imagined that the world is controlled by Satan-worshiping liberal Democrats (the rest of the world, of course, lining up behind American political divisions) and that Trump is true avenging angel who stands outside of the stranglehold that Luciferian leftists have on government and society. Marzulli offers an only slightly toned down version of the same claim: ...

So... a document dump has been published online and reported on by BuzzFeed, without any verification or checking whatsoever, but that purports to detail the level of interaction and cooperation between the Kremlin and the Trump machine, specifically regarding the exchange of information, the compromise of Clinton and compiling and content of a dossier of 'kompromat' — compromising material — on Trump.

It goes into quite a bit of detail of the usage by the FSB of state-controlled hackers, compromised overseas ethnic Russians and others as state actors in their schemes.

It is on the one hand the stuff of espionage movies, and on the other possessing a ring of truth that also comes with a fair echo of 'too good to be true'.

The plot is now thickening like a pleasing stew.

It's getting better all the time ;)

US President-elect Donald Trump has suggested American intelligence agencies may be responsible for releasing an explosive dossier containing allegations that Russia holds compromising information about him.

In a dramatic press conference in New York, the billionaire tycoon branded the unverified dossier “fake news” and said it would be a “tremendous blot” on the agencies’ reputations if they were shown to have leaked it.

We already know the present occupiers of the White House cannot be trusted. So if the Republicans turn out to be the same way we really are shux out of luck. Would it not be wise to at least wait and see what unfolds rather than running amuck on innuendo and rumor?

(Hoping this belongs in Conspiracies and not the main US politics thread... an interesting analysis of the reorganising/purging going on in the US government)

    Trial Balloon for a Coup?

    1. Trump was, indeed, perfectly honest during the campaign; he intends to do everything he said, and more. This should not be reassuring to you.
    2. The regime’s main organizational goal right now is to transfer all effective power to a tight inner circle, eliminating any possible checks from either the Federal bureaucracy, Congress, or the Courts. Departments are being reorganized or purged to effect this.
    3. The inner circle is actively probing the means by which they can seize unchallenged power; yesterday’s moves should be read as the first part of that.
    4. The aims of crushing various groups — Muslims, Latinos, the black and trans communities, academics, the press — are very much primary aims of the regime, and are likely to be acted on with much greater speed than was earlier suspected. The secondary aim of personal enrichment is also very much in play, and clever people will find ways to play these two goals off each other.
