And then I spotted this on the front page and while it is Pravda ad I'd usually put it in the Pravda thread because their news reports are suspect it seems to fit better here - can those predictions be confirmed?:

This was in today's Pop Bitch newsletter.

You know what'd be fun to do? Set up some sort of online calender and fill it with as many predictions as we can find. Then there'd be no reporting of predictions after the fact and it could be used to record the success rate.
Could use a wiki format so that anyone could add their own prediction (all properly dated, of course, to ensure there's no fiddling).

The Wikipedia Article on Suggestopedia is interesting, and it was developed by one of the Baba Vanga researchers mentioned in the first article...

A BLIND mystic who reportedly foretold 9/11, the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami, the Fukushima nuclear spill and the birth of ISIS also made dire predictions for 2016 and beyond.

Bulgaria-born Prophetess Baba Vanga, who died in 1996 aged 85, was known as “Nostradamus from the Balkans” thanks to a purported 85 per cent success rate and has long been revered in Russia and Europe as a kind of supernatural saint.

Of the hundreds of predictions Vanga made over her 50-year career as a celebrated clairvoyant, a large number alluded to natural and climate change-related disasters. She warned of melting polar ice caps and rising sea temperatures back in the 1950s, decades before anyone had heard of global warming.

Her followers believe her vivid description of a “huge wave” that would descend on a “big coast, covering people and towns and (causing) everything to disappear under the water” was a reference to the 2004 tsunami and earthquake which claimed hundreds of thousands of lives across the Pacific Rim.

But it’s Vanga’s preoccupation with a “great Muslim war” that has sent believers, conspiracy theorists and Islamophobics into a doomsday frenzy in recent months as the world struggles to contain the escalating threat from Islamic State and its affiliates.

The chilling prophecies warn of a 2016 invasion of Europe by Muslim extremists, a conflict she predicted would begin with the Arab Spring in 2010, play out in Syria where “Muslims would use chemical warfare against Europeans”, and culminate in the establishment of a caliphate by 2043 with Rome at its epicentre.

According to Vanga, Europe as we know it will “cease to exist” by the end of next year following the systematic elimination of entire populations, leaving the continent “almost empty”, a “wasteland almost entirely devoid of any form of life”.

I think that crediting Nostradamus with anything like an 85% success rate is an insult to every monkey who's ever wielded a typewriter.

    From Tribble's link above:

    "2025:
The population of Europe will reach almost zero.

"2028: Mankind will fly to Venus, in hope of finding new sources of energy.

"2033: World water levels will rise as the polar ice caps melt (this is already happening).

"2043: Europe’s transformation into an Islamic caliphate is complete. Rome is named the capital. The world’s economy thrives under Muslim rule.

"2066: America will use a new climate change weapon for the first time in a bid to retake Rome and bring back Christianity."

It was being so cheerful that kept her going!

What about all those Muslims, then?

Thrives? I'm not sure that would be the word to use.

Sounds like she was running out of plausible predictions to offer her fans.

:p Man made sun lighting up the dark side of the Earth.
Yeah, that's just what the sleeping population on Earth needs - NOT.

The name Baba Vanga has echoes of the Slavic witch, Baba Yaga.

I had assumed her origins lay in the dim and distant past but that Wikipedia page - which contains some wonderful illustrations - states that she is first mentioned in writing as late as 1755! Before coming into literary focus, it seems likely she had many names in fireside tales. :cooll:

Apparently she also predicted that World War 3 would start in 2010 and end in 2014 after going nuclear. I'm calling that one a miss.

Blind mystic who 'predicted 9/11 and Brexit' has claimed that Donald Trump will be prevented from taking office
    • 17:56, 11 Nov 2016

A BLIND mystic who it is claimed has predicted the rise of ISIS, Brexit and 9/11 has also warned that outgoing President Barack Obama will be the USA’s last.

Conspiracy theorists think that prophetess Baba Vanga has foretold that Donald Trump will not be sworn in on January 20 next year.

The Bulgarian - who died 20 years ago - was also known as ‘the Nostradamus of the Balkans’.

She is revered in Russia for her 85% success rate when it comes to telling the future - with millions convinced that she possessed paranormal abilities.

Now it transpires the clairvoyant made a staggering prophecy about the US election .

Incredibly, Baba correctly predicted that the 44th President of the United States would be black.

She also warned that an economic crisis would prevent the 45th president from taking office, meaning Obama would be the last to serve his term.

Her chilling prediction states: “Everyone will put their hopes in him to end it, but the opposite will happen; he will bring the country down and conflicts between north and south states will escalate.”

Twitter users were quick to reference Baba Vanga's predictions after Trump's shock victory in the race for the White House.

Many put faith in Baba's predictions due to the accuracy of her previous prophecies.

Theorists believe she foretold Brexit - even going so far as to say that Europe as we know it will “cease to exist” by the end of 2016.

Moreover she claimed the continent will be left “almost empty” - and be turned into a “wasteland almost entirely devoid of any form of life”.

Baba's believers also fear her prediction of a “great Muslim war” and an invasion of Europe by Muslim extremists - stemming from the Arab Spring in 2010 - and conflict in Syria.

She claimed that “Muslims would use chemical warfare against Europeans”.

Critics however claim that people will twist her prophecies to make them seem true.
